OPEN POSITIONS

DESIGNER I

 

Taney Engineering is seeking a Designer Level I for its facility in Las Vegas, NV.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and such as roads, channels, pipelines and water and sewage systems. Visit project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards. Compute grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications. Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, program modifications. Design and draft work involved in the improvement plans or entitlements of a project, all which conform to the standards of the city or local agency and consider the scale and economics as well. Use knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D to draft and create documents used as instructions for the development of land. Locate and understand local agency improvement plan development standards and standard drawings specification requirements. Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, aerials, photos and topography produced by others. Coordinate with clients, city, utility companies, contractors, and surveyors pertaining to any design plan issues. Draft plans utilizing a variety of computer systems including AutoCAD, WORD, and Excel to prepare planning layout and perform calculations. Assist in the research and look up of all proposed zoning codes and applying all requirements to proposed projects. Preparation of civil improvement plans, exhibits, and tentative maps within AutoCAD. Conduct research of the surrounding project site for utilities, traffic, and grading items.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or related field of study plus 6 months experience in the job offer or 6 months experience as a civil designer, designer, or related occupation. Must have 6 months experience with the following:  AutoCAD Civil 3D to draft and create documents used as instructions for the development of land; transferring notes, redlines and verbal explanation onto a drawing generated in AutoCAD; reading and interpreting plans, maps, aerials, photos and topography produced by others; Coordinating with clients, city, utility companies, contractors, and surveyors pertaining to any design plan issues; performing grading design, Stormwater Management (SWM) calculations, and Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) design; using algebraic formulas, trigonometry tables, and statistical mathematics as applied to the computation of angles, areas, distances, and traverses; preparation of civil improvement plans, exhibits, and tentative maps within AutoCAD; assisting in conducting research of surrounding project site for utilities, traffic, and grading items. HYDROLOGIST I

 

Taney Engineering is seeking a Hydrologist I for its facility in Las Vegas, NV.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Will research the distribution, circulation, and physical properties of underground and surface waters. Study the form and intensity of precipitation, its rate of infiltration into the soil, movement through the earth, and its return to the ocean and atmosphere. Prepare written and oral reports describing research results, using illustrations, maps, appendices, and other information. Design and conduct scientific hydrogeological investigations to ensure that accurate and appropriate information is available for use in water resource management decisions. Design the following: Drainage plans; Hydrologic and Hydraulic Calculations; preparing and submitting studies to meet project timelines and prepare take-off quantity and cost estimates. Collect, analyze and interpret statistical data in related field. Accurately perform mathematical calculations to aid in the selections of alternatives. Design, directly develop and recommend solutions to complex hydrological issues with the Senior Hydrologist. Translate the ideas, information and computations relative to plans, maps and charts into diagrammatic form on paper. Effectively coordinate with clients, local agencies, utility companies, contractors and surveyors pertaining to any hydrology issues. Check plans for accuracy and compliance with local agencies' standards and general construction practices. Work with the Project Managers, Coordinators and other design team members. Use Knowledge of the principles of hydrology and/or water resource.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or related field of study plus 2 years’ experience in the job offer or employer is willing to accept 2 years’ experience as a Civil Engineer, Technical Engineer, Architect Designer or related occupation. The employer is also willing to accept a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years’ experience in the job offer or employer is willing to accept 5 years’ experience as a Civil Engineer, Technical Engineer, Architect Designer or related occupation. Must have 2 years’ experience performing the following duties: Using knowledge of and experience with all aspects related to design task; including their understanding of AutoCAD, ability to resolve design problems and knowledge of governing entity requirements. Using knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D to draft and create documents used as instructions for the development of land. Drafting plans utilizing a variety of computer systems including AutoCAD, WORD, and Excel to prepare planning layout and perform calculations. Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, aerials, photos and topography produced by others. Conducting research of past jobs within an impacting relative radius to an assigned project site, and locate agency approved plans to assist in accessing project existing conditions. Using knowledge of and experience with preparing water, fire and sewer calculations. Coordinating with clients, city, utility companies, contractors, and surveyors pertaining to any design plan issues. Preparing civil improvement plans, exhibits, and tentative maps within AutoCAD.  Using algebraic formulas, trigonometry tables, and statistical mathematics as applied to the computation of angles, areas, distances, and traverses.
